FAQ

How can I match Splash Colors' shades to my outfit, costume, or fabric?

We offer several ways to help you find the perfect color match:

  1. Contact us with details: If you’re trying to match a color, you can reach out and describe the shade you need. Providing a reference, like a well-known brand, character, or pop culture example, can help us recommend the closest match.
  2. Send us a photo: Snap a picture of the fabric or item you’re trying to match, ideally in natural light to avoid color variations. Review the photo on your phone or computer for accuracy, and let us know if you notice any differences, so we can factor that in when helping you.
  3. Mail us a sample: For the most accurate match, send us a physical sample via postal mail. We’ll compare it directly to our colors. This option takes a bit longer, but it ensures the closest possible match.
  4. Buy our color cards: Our color cards include swatches of all our shades. Keep in mind, the fabric used in the color ring may differ slightly from the fabric of the style you order.
Are there color variations between your styles?

Slight variations can occur between styles. At Splash Colors, we offer over 20 different styles made from nylon or nylon/spandex. While we handle all our own textile coloration, some factors can influence the final color across different styles, even when dyed in the same batch. Before shipping your order, our team visually checks to ensure there’s minimal variation (if any) between styles.

What if the color I received isn’t what I expected?

We do our best to accurately represent our colors online, but if the color you received isn’t what you were expecting, we’re here to help. Depending on your situation, the best first step is to contact us directly with more details. If you'd prefer, you can return the item. If possible, include an example of the color you’re looking for in the return package, and we’ll do our best to visually match it with our closest shade.

Do your colors bleed or fade over time?

We use a dye fixative agent to help prevent colors from bleeding or fading when needed. However, each color has its own properties, and some may be more prone to bleeding. Extra care should be taken with Scarlet Red, Turquoise, Neon Yellow, Neon Orange, Neon Green, and Kelly Green. For best results, follow our care instructions. If staining occurs on other clothes, try rewashing them, as our dyes are designed for nylon and nylon/spandex and will likely wash out of other fabrics like cotton or polyester.

What does the term denier mean?

Denier refers to the thickness of hosiery fabric. A lower denier number, like anything below 40, indicates a sheer, lightweight material, while a higher denier, such as 40 and above, means the fabric is thicker and more opaque.
